Fun Photos

Elliot with his Halloween pumpkin

A classic Elliot face

Hanging out in my bouncy chair
Elliot had a fun photo shoot with some fall decorations, all cleaned of course!  I think he liked it - we got a ton of shots and he had a good time.  He's also started to enjoy time in his chair looking around the ICN.  He's getting so big!

Week 13

Hard to believe that this coming Tuesday, November 1st is Elliot's due date.  And Monday, Halloween Elliot will be 100 days old!  Not sure if we should celebrate and cry seeing as though that means we've been here in Lebanon for 100 days!  I am sure we will celebrate.

Elliot is over 5lbs - it's been amazing to watch him grow and get bigger each week.  His premie clothes are even starting to get to small if you can believe it - on too a whole new size!  Another milestone and something to celebrate.

Elliot had laser eye surgery on Friday - it lasted about 2 hours and was done to both of his eyes.  The surgery was for retna detachment and to help prevent any further distraction.  Detachment can happen something to premies who have been on oxygen as long as he has and who have been born so early.  Everyone was so nice and he made it thru perfectly.  Just another test/thing Elliot wanted to have before we leave the hospital - we are sure he wants to have every procedure and equiptment he can before they let us go, even then we will be taking some home with us I am sure.

We also enjoyed our first snow fall here in Lebanon.  It was Thursday afternoon, a heavy wet snow that lasted for a few hours, we have to admit that it did look pretty on the trees but we have not even put our snow scraper in the jeep yet, so BJ was forced to clear the windows with an old CD case.  The weather report for the rest of the weekend also includes another storm so Elliot might get a chance to see even more snow before November!

Elliot was a little fussy today so BJ had some quiet time with him, I was able to snap this quick fun shot!  They look so cute!  Enjoy

Happy 3rd Month Birthday E-MAN!!!

Its amazing to think that three months have gone by. Elliot started out at 1.9 lbs and today he is 4.9 lbs. We are so lucky to have some many people supporting us and the Eman in this journey.

With another month comes another video. Enjoy, and thank you to everyone!

CHaD Storybook Ball

Tonight, Carrie and I attended the CHaD storybook ball in manchester where we shared Elliot's story with nearly 300 people. Our good friend Tiffany Eddy made this amazing video about the hospital and it featured Elliot. There was not a dry eye in house.

The event theme was super cool and truly everyone got into it. From Peter Pan to the Cat in the Hat, the decorations at each table honestly put you in the that story.

It was so great to see so many friends who have shared in this journey with us and we are blessed to have met so many new people who have and will continue to do great things for babies like Elliot.

Elliots New Glamour Shots!

Week 12

Hard to believe we will be reaching the 100 day milestone in just a few short days and celebrating Elliot's 3rd month birthday on Sunday!  The days are getting cooler, the night sky comes earlier in the evening and the leaves have pretty much peaked and are on the way out, it's officially fall and we just hope we don't see winter.

Elliot had a little cold this week and had to take a small step back to his cpap so he could work on his cold and less on his breathing - he looks more comfortable and he's resting and we will celebrate when the cold finally passes!  He is up on his weight, he clocked in at 4lb 9oz - an amazing site for us!  He's also been taking a few bottles but has had some time off due to the cpap and the cold - he will be back at them for sure next week.

BJ and I are attending the CHaD Storybook Ball on Saturday evening and we will share our story of Elliot with the attendees - we plan to show the 1 month video and the 3 month video to show how far we have come and how lucky we are to be here at this wonderful place.  BJ will do most of the speaking, we will also let them raffle off 2 of the hats we have made during our time here - We will for sure have updates on how it was next week!

Thanks again for sharing this journey with us!

New Bath Photos

All warm and clean from my bath!

Week 11

Elliot's had a great week!  He is over 4lbs and eating like a champ!  BJ and I came back up Wednesday evening to see Elliot, we had been gone a few extra days and he looked so different to us, it's amazing to see how much he can change in just a few days.

We've been here for 85 days now and we are working on weight gain, bottle feeding and of course his lungs, he's been such a trooper giving it his all each and every day.  We don't try to bottle feed him unless he gives us cues, such as eating his sheets and really sucking at his pacifier, otherwise he gets tube fed so he can rest and work on the lungs.  BJ and I have each tried with the bottle and we are getting more comfortable each time.  It's a process for him to learn to do 3 things at one, but we are taking it one day at a time.  We've learned that Elliot would rather take the slow path that's a lot less traveled then speed up in the fast lane!

BJ's been working on E's next video - this one is going to be great - we've done a lot in the past few weeks!  Off to cuddle with Elliot before we head home to Manchester for a few days!  Love the Perry's

Week 10

October has arrived!  This has been a big week for the Perry's!  We filmed a segment for Chronicle to air sometime in the next 2 weeks about our experience here at CHaD.  We had a good time sharing our story with Tiffany Eddy and we can't wait to see what she uses, BJ also provided her with photos and both of our video's on a zip drive!

The two month video is a hit here at the ICN with all the staff - Elliot's such a rock star....good thing dad is already working on the next one!

We also started feeding Elliot with a bottle, he had his first one with me on Wednesday, BJ had a meeting in Concord so Elliot and I tried the bottle, my sister came by to visit and to cheer Elliot on.  I was super nervous I kept thinking I was giving him too much and he was going to choke, but he took it nice and slow and we were able to get a few cc's down - he got pretty tired and also had an eye exam later that day so we didn't push him!  He's had a few more bottles with the nurses later this week and he seems to be enjoying them!

He graduated to high flow - another type of oxygen and it's one step closer to getting him home, he's also weighing in at about 3lb 13 oz - a real fatty!

All in all a very great week for the 3 of us and we couldn't be happier!  Thanks again for all the well wishes - everyones prayers seem to be working!

Week 9

Today during rounds they announced that Elliot is 70 days old, it's amazing to think that 70 days have passed and that we are still riding the Dartmouth roller coaster.  Each day that passes we think about how lucky we are to have Elliot in our lives and how wonderful it will be when we can introduce him to all of our friends and special people in our lives, the bigger he gets the more excited we get!

We've had a pretty good ride this week!  We arrived back here late Tuesday night and were greeted by Elliot on a cpap vent, and what a wonderful surprise for us!  Since this last steriod treatment Elliot has been doing extremly well with his breathing and lung development and it's made us very proud parents.  Elliot has also been able to hold his body temp so he gets to sleep with the top up on his incubator!  Elliot had another eye test, it's not his favorite test but it's an important one.

BJ got in some good holding time with Elliot this week - almost 2 full hours on Wednesday, Elliot slept almost the entire time and it was so peaceful for BJ (the reiki volunteer is on vacation for 3 weeks so we've given Elliot the job to give dad his peaceful time).

On Thursday Elliot made a HUGE move....to the carpet!  We are officially on the carpet non critical side and we are thrilled!  This is such a weight lifted off of us - one step closer to getting Elliot home with us, we've gotta finish building all the baby furniture first!

Thanks again for checking in on us!  We are doing well and also excited that it's October!
